Cheshin, Mishael

Mishael Cheshin, born in 1936, served on the Supreme Court of Israel from 1992 to 2006. He was appointed Deputy President of the Court in 2005. In 1957, he completed his legal studies at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an institution at which he continued to teach into the 1980s. He worked at the Justice Ministry from 1962-1978, culminating with a stint as deputy attorney general from 1974-1978. Cheshin’s father, Shneor Zalman Cheshin, was one of the first five justices appointed to the Court, where he served from 1948-1959.
