Or, Theodor

Theodor Or was born in Poland in 1934 and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1936. Or completed a degree in law, summa cum laude, at the Hebrew University in 1955. In 1967 Or was appointed to the Afula Magistrate’s Court, and in 1973 he was appointed to the District Court in Nazareth. In 1989 Or was elected to be a Supreme Court Justice, remaining in that position until his retirement in 2004. In 2000, Or was appointed head of the “Or Commission” that was responsible for investigating clashes between the Israeli Police and Israeli Arab citizens following the outbreak of the second Palestinian Intifada that year.
