Bejski, Moshe

Moshe Bejski was born in 1920 in Poland. He emigrated to British Mandate Palestine in 1945 and completed his legal studies at the Sorbonne, graduating with a J.D. in 1951. He taught law at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv University from 1960 through 1969. Bejski was appointed to the district court in Tel Aviv-Jaffa in 1968 and, later, to the Israeli Supreme Court in 1975. He retired from the bench in 1991. From 1970 to 1975, Bejski, who was saved from the Nazis by Oskar Schindler, chaired Yad Vashem’s Commission of the Righteous, where he was charged with identifying and honoring gentiles who saved the lives of Jews during the Holocaust. He died in 2007 at the age of 86.
