Dunkelblum, Menachem
Born in Krakow, Poland, in 1889, Menachem Dunkelblum received an LL.D. from the University of Krakow. In 1915, Dunkelblum moved to Holland, where he taught languages and Muslim law at Leiden University until 1919. In 1917 he joined a Zionist group preparing to immigrate to Israel, and in 1919 he moved to Jerusalem, where he began practicing law. Between 1920-1924 Dunkelblum served as a legal advisor to the Zionist executive committee. Upon the foundation of the state of Israel in 1948, Dunkelblum was chosen as one of the first five justices of the Israeli Supreme Court. He served in the Supreme Court until his death in 1951.
