Halima, Avraham
Born in 1919 in Baghdad, Avraham Halima studied law in Baghdad, graduating in 1941. Halima practiced law there until his immigrated to Israel in 1951. In 1954 Halima was certified as a lawyer in Israel and in 1955 was appointed assistant district attorney of Tel Aviv. In 1960 Halima was appointed to the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court and in 1968 to the Tel Aviv District Court. In 1984 he was appointed as a justice in the Supreme Court, where he served until his retirement in 1989. Once retired, Halima was chosen as director of the Israel Land Development Company. In 1992 Halima was appointed chair of the central elections committee during elections for the 13th Knesset. Halima passed away in 2007 at the age of 87.
