Eliahu Mazza was born in Tel Aviv in 1935. Mazza completed a law degree in Tel Aviv University in 1960 and was certified as a lawyer in 1963. In 1972 Mazza was appointed as a military judge and in 1978 as a judge in the Bat Yam Magistrate’s Court. In 1974 he completed an LL.M., and in 1984 he was appointed to the District Court of Tel Aviv. Mazza served as a Supreme Court Justice between 1991-2005. In 2009 he was appointed to preside over the State Commission of Inquiry regarding the state’s handling of the evacuees from Gush Katif and Northern Samaria.
