Procaccia, Ayala

Ayala Procaccia was born in Kibbutz Ashdot Yaakov in 1941. She received her legal education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, graduating in 1969 summa cum laude. Between 1965-1969, Procaccia worked as legal assistant to Justice Agranat, the first female to hold that position. In 1969 Procaccia completed an LL.M. at the Hebrew University and then in 1972 an LL.D. at the University of Pennsylvania. During the years 1973-1987 Procaccia served in various senior posts in the Israeli Ministry of Justice. In 1987 she was appointed to the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court. In 1993 she was appointed District Justice in Jerusalem and, in 2001, Supreme Court Justice. Procaccia remained in the Supreme Court until her retirement in 2011.
